The N.E.R.D. Bots started in the 2018 Rover Ruckus season as a team of six 6th graders. Five of us joined FTC after graduating from the FLL team #27170 The Pika-Bots.

In FLL, we have participated in the Animal Allies and the Hydrodynamics FLL seasons and the Think Tank JR. FLL season. We joined the team because we love building and playing with robots!

During the 2018 rover ruckus season, we won the control award and were the last pick on the winning alliance at the Canton qualifier. At the Mason tournament, we were the first alliance captain though we did not make it to the final round. During our second season doing FTC, we recruited many new teammates. During our Canton Qualifier we won the Inspire Award. For our second event in Kettering, we qualified second in the Qualifier. Those to qualifiers sent us to the State Championship. There, we were last pick for the first place team. We were on the winning team at the end of the state championship.

Last year we had to work completely online because of the coronavirus and we held online meetings on Slack or Teams to discuss ideas. We held a leaf-raking fundraiser and a VEX-VR session where we taught kids how to make basic programs. We also had some in person meetings to build our robot, but we reduced the number of people. We did not win our first competition and won our second competition due to winning the Inspire Award and not our robot ranking. We got admitted into states and did not pass. All of these competitions were online and we had to submit videos of the robot.

This year, we made it to the semifinals and the finals. We ended up getting 2nd place, but that was still enough to make it into States. We also went to the Bedford Qualifier and did extremely well. We ended up making it to the semifinals where we got an amazing score of 264! This was is the 4th highest score in the world as of right now. We made it to the finals and we were the winning alliance!
